I just started checking out compact tractors, and from what I can tell by researching numerous websites and by previous posts here, is that Kioti is a "good buy". I am about to purchase some acerage (just under 10), and was curious to know which model would suit my needs. I will be doing mostly mowing (6 acres or so) and some tilling(1/2 acre), so nothing too strenuous on the machines, but yet I do not want to underpower it. What do you think?

I would not be so quick to pick a manufacturer. I suggest you take 'em all for a ride. Once you look at green, orange, and blue, along with the Kioti, you can decide what is best for you. (Whatever tractor you decided on, if you get a loader I would recommend hydrostatic transmission - absolutely no comparison between manual & hydro for loader work.) I went through this same process last summer and suggest that you test drive them all, and then when you pick the tractor you want, call the nearest several dealers and tell them what you want and that you will buy from whomever has lowest price, and then try to get the one with best service to match lowest price. In the end, a good tractor will last a life time, don't pick one to save a few dollars, buy the one you want - every time you use it you will be glad you did. Good Luck. ....

My friend has a DK45 Kioti with whats called "shuttle shift"? Put the tranny in what ever gear you need and run the throttle for speed. Push the clutch in and pull the lever back for reverser and go. Put the lever in the other way and go forward. This makes loader work a breeze and you have the durability of a gear transmission.

I have a Kioti DK35 and it is an excellant machine.
It would easily handle what you have in mind.
I brush hog,finnish mow,rototill,and maintain 800' drive on my 15 acres.
I also have the front loader and it works very well. ....

I would recommend something as large as the DK-35. Both my brother in-law and I purchased something too small at first. I would recommend around 30HP, below this you are in garden tractor range and it limits you ability to use all the implements.
The DKs have an excellent record for maintainence.
The DK line will extend down to all the tractors next year and the smaller tractors will have Hydros.
The NH TC-30 is also a value priced tractor and is available with a hydro.

Franklin,
Your situation sounds similar to mine. I have about 9 acres, 1/2 woods with creek and some hills. I wanted a bigger tractor (one that weighs more, not necessarily with more horsepower) than my Massey 65. Massey has plenty of power for what I needed, BUT had a hard time backing up with the loader. Rear tires were loaded.
I ended up purchasing a DK 65 with KL 1730 loader. It'll be more than enough tractor for me.

TOTALLY DISAGREE GET THE SHUTTLE SHIFT IF YOU HAVE A LOADER,GET MORE POWER TO THE GROUND. HYDROSTATIC IS FOR BEGINNERS, KIOTI PEOPLE USE SHUTTLE SHIFT. IF YOU WANT A WIMPY TRACTOR GET HYDRO GREEN OR HYDRO ORANGE ....

Well there is a guy with an opinion. I kinda like that. And it hits home for me also.
So Shutte shift is the best of both, huh?
You don't get worn out or to "busy" working all the handles?
I am a sorta rookie, though.
I have a Case 850 track loader and worked on tractors growing up but not a front end loader tractor before. I will be doing some test driving this week..
I guess I will just have to feel it for myself.
What do you think I will settle on?
Thank,
Len B. ....
